This is my template for weaving this piece, which was inspired by my disgust about the news about the shenanigans around the building of a new huge Thames sewer recently. The idea is to have the photo of the two city gents in black and white in the spaces between the weaving.

talks about a National Audit Office investigation of the 'unusual financial structure' of the Thames Tideway tunnel project. This tunnel is a huge sewer designed to prevent the sewers filling up and overflowing into the Thames when there is too much rain. There are an estimated 39-50 million cubic metres of rain overflow mixed with sewage which are currently running into the river. The article also mentions that it will be investigating how this project group won over smaller greener options.

In the meantime Thames Water, the privately owned provider which is leading this project, was given the largest ever fine for environmental damage (£!million) An article in https://www.gov.uk/government/news/thames-water-fined-1-million-for-pollution-to-grand-union-canal says that ' treated sewage can contain polluting matter such as suspended solids, high levels of iron and aluminium. Suspended solids have the potential to smother organisms and plant life in rivers and cover the spawning grounds of fish. Aluminium and iron can have toxic impacts on macro-invertebrates. Routine samples of the discharge taken on 31 January 2013 contained high levels of iron and aluminium, and showed a high chemical oxygen demand.'

This photo was published on thameswater.com with information about the steps they are taking to prevent pollution of the water. http://www.thameswater.co.uk/cr/Sustainabledrainage/Pollutionincidents/index.html

I have recently remembered that the water in the Thames is generally brown and opaque because of its natural turbulence. I went to take some photos of the Thames from London Bridge.

The Thames showing the way the shadow of the bridge isn't straight due to the waves, and the colours interweave with each other in an attractive way.

This one is a bit more like the actual colour of the muddy turbulent river.

My shadow on the bridge made me think about how effective it would be to have the shadow of a city gent falling on the Thames, suggesting that the shadow of capitalism is responsible the Thames being so dirty. Or should I say irresponsible?

These two seemed to give a good outline identifiable as city gents
